Dear alums,

While the singles will have fun having their speed dating party soon, we will have another dinner party for us to meet new and old friends. The coming year is the year of the horse, and January 25 is 年廿五. Probably many of you have not celebrated the Chinese New Year for a long time. Why don't we take this opportunity to get together and crank up that festive spirit? Friends and families are welcome!

Ms. Subrina Chow, director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, would be our guest speaker. She will talk about the latest business/investment opportunities related to hi-tech/biotech in Hong Kong.

As part of our dinner party, we will hold a "White Elephant Gift Exchange". Please see below the description of this game. We will have many other fun things to do too. Some alums even propose going to KTV after the dinner.....sounds nice.

Here are the details of the dinner:

When:
January 25, 2014 (Saturday)
6:00 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Where:

White Elephant Gift Exchange

People who would like to participate in this will bring a "white elephant gift". It can be something you bought, or something that is "nice" but has been sitting at a corner in your garage, etc. No need to be fancy or extravagant, but no pranks such as a bag of stones or electrical tape please, Please wrap your gift so it will be "mysterious".

When the gifts are collected, each will be assigned a number. You will also draw a number that represent your sequence in picking a gift. Once you pick it, you will unwrap in front of everybody. If another person with a later sequence number wants to "grab" your gift, she/he can do so if the gift has not been "grabbed" two times. I.e., the third possession is final. This game may sound a little complicated at first, but it is incredibly fun.

We look forward to having you join us!

Happy New Year!
