The 50th Anniversary Banquet


The year 2013 is the golden jubilee of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The CUHK Alumni Association of Silicon Valley is holding a Banquet in November to celebrate this important milestone of the CUHK.

Banquet program includes:
  • A video greeting from the Vice-Chancellor of the CUHK, Prof. Joseph Sung (沈祖堯校長).
  • Nov 4th will be the 80th birthday of our beloved former Vice-Chancellor Prof. Charles Kun Kao (高錕校長). We will invite all the guests to sing "Happy Birthday" to Prof. Kao. The birthday greeting will be videotaped and sent to Prof Kao.
  • Keynote speech by our successful alumnus Mr. Harrison Lim (林柄昌) on the topics of "淺談職場上所見的中美差異" and "浴火鳳凰﹕從挫折中爬起-我的故事". More details below.
  • Talent Show by some alumni.
    • You and your families and friends are most welcome to show off your talent, be it singing, playing musical instrument, doing talk show, sharing your fun CUHK old memories, etc. A separate email for signing up as performer will be sent to you.
  • Raffle Draw
    • Hard-to-get 50th Anniversary souvenirs and other attractive prizes.
    • Every guest has one raffle ticket, while extra raffle tickets are available for purchase during the event.
  • Collective memories
    • slideshow of CUHK pictures contributed by alumni
    • This is an excellent opportunity for you to relive old memories of your years in the CUHK. We highly appreciate it if you could share your pictures with us. Instructions for uploading pictures will be sent to you in another email
Keynote speaker biography:
Mr. Harrison Lim (林柄昌) graduated from the CUHK in the 1960's. He is one of the six outstanding overseas alumni featured in the June issue of Alumni Matters (中大校友), the magazine published by the CUHK Alumni Affairs Office.

Mr. Harrison Lim is well known for his contribution to the community in the San Francisco Bay Area. His outstanding achievement was recognized and recorded in the Congress in 2004. The San Francisco Foundation granted him the Community Leadership Award in 2001. He was the president of the Chinese Consolidate Benevolent Association (駐美中華總會館), and has been a director of the association. Mr. Lim is the founder of the Charity Cultural Services Center (博愛文化服務中心) and the American Chinese Cultural and Art Association (中美文化藝術協會), as well as the co-founder of Sincere Federal Savings Bank.
